Fort Collins, Colorado is a beautiful city of approximately 125,000 people, situated north of Denver on the I-25 corridor, about 40 miles south of the Wyoming border. City limits nudge right up into the foothills of the Front Range, with National Forest lying just west of the city, and Rocky Mountain National Park lying not far to the southwest. In fact, Long's Peak, the tallest peak in Rocky Mountain National Park, is easily visible from anywhere in the city. To the northwest of the city, the Poudre River brings mountain snowmelt down through a rugged canyon lined with evergreens, and provides for fantastic recreation opportunities. The Poudre River is Colorado's only designated Wild and Scenic River, which affords it a great amount of protection from development, and contributes to a peaceful and natural experience. Colorado State University is located in Fort Collins, and helps to lend a college-town feel to the city. A restored Old Town district has lots of charm, and though it is located in a dry region (annual rainfall averages about 15 inches), Fort Collins is designated by the National Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City, USA. Several national publications have ranked Fort Collins as one of the very top places to live, and it's no wonder when you browse through images of the city. It's the kind of city that everyone wants to live in.
