Bighorn Lake,
with Bighorn Peak at the upper right
I've never been
more intimidated to complete a hike than at the point where I took
this photo.
You see all those millions of boulders? I'd already hiked over a mile through
this boulder
field to get to this point, and every step had to be carefully planned
and executed
to avoid falling. As an added challenge, many boulders were loose, and
would rock when
walked on. I can't imagine the concentration the dogs had to have
to accompany
me to this point. At two places, I had to carry them over gaping
crevasses that
were too wide for them to jump. Thus, when I got to this point and
looked down
on the bleak edges of Bighorn Lake, I decided I had gone far enough.
