014 - Diamond
Peaks at Cameron Pass, Colorado
I hiked to the
top of the three Diamond Peaks in the unusually dry October of 2001.
The tallest
peak on the horizon is Mt Richtofen, which I've always meant to hike up,
but so far have
not. The ridgeline in the foreground marks the boundary between
Roosevelt National
Forest (left) and Colorado State Forest (right). It's fairly easy to
make it to this
spot by starting out at the Cameron Pass parking area and heading
straight west
(and uphill). I've hiked up here in July, too, and it is always windy.
